Solar savings calculator. When you use our calculator to estimate a system for your home or business, we collect the information you enter, including:

• Your annual electricity use (kWh) or average monthly electric bill
• Your utility provider and all-in delivered electricity cost
• Your target solar offset percentage
• Your electrical service size and backup generator preference
• Future electrical loads you're planning for — for example, an EV, a heat pump, a heat pump water heater, an electric range, a pool or hot tub, or a hybrid washer/dryer
• Your preferred system type and mounting method
• Details about your property: building height, roof pitch, roof material, and shading level
• Your project address
• Assumptions you can adjust, such as expected production (kWh/kW/year), panel selection, and current heating oil or propane prices

Your project address is personal information because it identifies a specific property, and we treat it with the same care as your name and contact details.

1.2 If You Become a Customer

If you move forward with a guided DIY or full-service engagement, we collect the additional information needed to complete your project — for example, proof of address, your signed application, system and battery specifications, permitting paperwork, and utility interconnection approvals. That information is covered by this Policy and, once you sign one, by your project agreement.

1.3 Information We Collect Automatically

Like most websites, when you visit our Site we automatically collect certain technical information, including your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, links you click, how you interact with our calculator, and referring or exit pages. We use standard tools such as Google Analytics and cookies to collect this. See Section 5 for your cookie choices.

1.4 Information From Third Parties

We may also receive information about you from:

• Utility companies, including published rate schedules for providers such as Central Maine Power and Versant Power
• Public solar production and weather data sources, which we use to generate default production assumptions for your area
• Mapping and address-lookup services, used to help locate and assess your property
• Financing partners, only if you choose to apply for solar financing and authorize us to share your information with them

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Generate your solar estimate and respond to your inquiry
• Schedule and prepare for consultations and site visits
• Design your system and prepare a formal proposal or quote
• Communicate with you throughout a project — permitting, procurement, installation, and utility interconnection
• Improve our Site, calculator, and services
• Send you information you've asked for about solar, incentives, or our services
• Meet our legal, tax, and regulatory obligations

Marketing communications. If you'd like to hear from us about solar incentives, promotions, or news, we'll ask for your opt-in first, and every message will include an easy way to opt out.

Text messages. If you provide a mobile number, you agree that DIY Solar ME may contact you by call or text about your inquiry, consultation, or project. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out of texts, or contact us directly to be removed from a calling list.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we will never share it for someone else's marketing purposes. We do share information in these circumstances:

• Service providers who support our business — for example, our CRM, scheduling, website hosting, and analytics providers — under obligations to keep it confidential
• Financing partners, only if you apply for financing and authorize the introduction
• Utility companies and permitting authorities, as required to interconnect your system, apply for net metering, or obtain a town permit
• Legal and safety reasons — to comply with a subpoena, court order, or applicable law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of DIY Solar ME, our customers, or others
• Business transfers — if DIY Solar ME is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to remember your preferences, understand how visitors use our Site, and measure the effectiveness of our marketing. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect how well the Site and calculator work for you.

Our Site does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, as no common industry standard for responding to them has been adopted.

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the information you share with us. That said, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

We keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your inquiry, deliver services, meet our legal and tax recordkeeping obligations, and resolve any disputes. Because DIY Solar ME serves customers primarily in Maine, this Policy is written with that focus; if we begin serving customers in states with broader privacy statutes (such as California, Colorado, or Connecticut), we will update this section accordingly.

Our Site is intended for adults evaluating solar for their home or business. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16, and our services are not directed at children.
